Tulsa Volleyball Concludes Home Finale With 3-0 Loss To Cincinnati

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team fell to the Cincinnati Bearcats (9-18, 7-10 AAC) in three sets (15-25, 23-25, 15-25) during the final home match of the year Friday in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
 
The loss dropped the Golden Hurricane's record to 12-17 overall and 5-12 in American Athletic Conference play.
 
Outside hitter Kayley Cassaday led the floor with 18 kills in 48 total attacks on the day to lead the Hurricane offense. Tulsa attackers benefitted from 30 assists from setter Avery Kalsu.
 
Defensively, libero Marta Pecalli led the way with 14 digs to go with three blocks from middle blocker Regan Pendleton.
 
Tulsa will wrap up the regular season on the road next week against Memphis (17-12, 7-9 AAC) on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., and SMU (20-8, 13-3 AAC) on Friday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m.

SET 1 | The Hurricane found itself in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-15. Tulsa trailed by as many as 10 points as Cincinnati grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 in a set that was knotted up just once before the Bearcats took control.
 
SET 2 | Tulsa lost the second set 25-23, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Tulsa trailed by as many as six points as Cincinnati grabbed the advantage for good at 21-20 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Bearcats took over near the end of the stanza.
 
SET 3 | Cincinnati finished the sweep with a set-three victory. The Hurricane fell in a tough set 25-15. Tulsa trailed by as many as 10 points as Cincinnati grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that featured five tie-scores before the Bearcats took over the lead.
