GREENVILLE, N.C. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team lost 3-1 (19-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25) to the East Carolina Pirates (9-17, 4-10 AAC) Sunday on the road in Greenville.
The loss dropped the Golden Hurricane's record to 11-14 overall and 4-9 in American Athletic Conference play.
Tulsa was led by double-doubles from outside hitter Kayley Cassaday, who registered 15 kills and 11 digs, and setter Avery Kalsu, who had a team-leading 18 assists and 10 kills.
Defensively, libero Marta Pecalli chipped in 11 digs to go with two blocks from middle blocker Camryn Lingenbrink
Tulsa will return to action next weekend to host Houston (23-2, 14-0 AAC) on Friday, Nov. 11, and Tulane (8-17, 3-10 AAC) on Sunday, Nov. 13.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hurricane fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Tulsa trailed by as many as nine points as East Carolina never surrendered the lead in a set that had no tie scores.
SET 2 | Tulsa dropped set two 25-17, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Hurricane dropped the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Tulsa stayed alive after a win in set three to make it a 2-1 match. The Hurricane grabbed control of the set early when the score was 5-4 and never looked back to win 25-22. Tulsa led by seven points at 18-11 before closing out the stanza, collecting 15 kills in the process. The Tulsa offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Tulsa could not build off the set-three victory and fell in set four 25-15 to drop the match. The Hurricane trailed by as many as 10 points as East Carolina grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4. Tulsa was not able to recover in a set that was tied up just once before the Pirates took over.
