TULSA, Okla. ––
Darien Jackson and Jeriah Horne each scored 21 points to pace Tulsa for an 83-77 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in front of a Legends Day crowd of 3,405 fan at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Jackson scored 17 of his points in the second half and ended the game tying his career-high which came in the earlier meeting against the Bearcats. He was 8-of-10 from the field, 2-of-2 from three-point range and added five rebounds.

Tulsa freshman Anthony Pritchard finished with career-highs for his first career double-double tallying 11 points and 10 assists and was just three rebounds away from a triple-double. Rey Idowu added 14 points and three rebounds for the Hurricane.

Tulsa avenged an earlier loss in Cincinnati to even the season series at one game apiece, while improving its overall record to 8-15 and league mark to 2-10. The Bearcats fell to 16-8 and 6-5 in The American.

"Obviously, we needed this. It was a great win," said Tulsa Head Coach Frank Haith. "We had a lot of guys score well and defensively, they scored 77 points, but I thought we played great defense as we held them to 33-percent from three-point range. If you look at their output in the first game up there, we were much better tonight."

The Hurricane out-scored Cincinnati in the paint 44-to-26, while hitting 53-percent of its field goals compared to just 38 percent for the Bearcats. Tulsa led the entire game except for when the contest was tied at 4-4 for just 0:52 in the first three minutes.

"We executed on offense. We executed in the first half and came out in the second half and did a really good job of taking good shots," added Haith. "We had 14 assists, but Pritch had 10 of them. Outstanding job by the freshman with 11 points and 10 assists. But DJ and Jeriah were outstanding. Every time we needed a big play, a big shot, DJ made a lot of those shots. Great game, Great win."

Tulsa took a double-digit lead of 10 points as Idowu knocked down two free throws with 8:01 left on the game clock to make the score 66-56. After a Cincinnati basket, Jackson's fast-break layup made it a 10-point margin again at 68-58.

After Cincinnati cut it to seven points, Idowu hit a hook shot and got the foul for a three-point play that put Tulsa back ahead by 10 points at 71-61 with 6:34 remaining. The Bearcats went on a 10-2 run to cut Tulsa's lead to 73-71 with 4:38 left on the clock, but the Hurricane responded with a 6-0 run of their own for a 79-71 lead with less than three minutes left as Jackson scored four and Horne had two of those points.

The Hurricane made enough free throws and played solid defense in the final minute to hold on for a six-point victory.

At the start of the game, Tulsa went on a 13-2 run and increased its lead to 17-6 at the 13:13 mark as Horne's trey put the Hurricane ahead by 11 points.

The Bearcats would get as close as one point at 19-18 with a 12-2 scoring run. The Hurricane then went on a 14-5 run to take its first double-digit lead of the game at 33-23 on a Jackson jumper in the paint and another Jackson basket gave Tulsa its biggest lead of the half at 12 points with 4:19 to play.

Cincinnati closed its deficit to three points with 0:22 left on the first-half clock before Horne's jumper put the Hurricane ahead 39-34 just before the halftime buzzer.

Tulsa shot 52-percent from the field and 43-percent from three-point range in the half, while holding the Bearcats to 38-percent. The Hurricane outscored Cincinnati 22-to-14 in the paint at the intermission, while Horne led the way with 12 points.

Tulsa will hit the road for four straight games opening in Orlando, Fla., with UCF on Monday night at 6 p.m. (CT). Tulsa will also play at South Florida, SMU and East Carolina over the next two weeks.
