No. 48 Tulsa to Conclude Regular Season This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. ― The No. 48 Tulsa women's tennis team will conclude its regular season campaign with two home matches this weekend, hosting No. 73 Denver tomorrow at 3 p.m. before facing Temple at 1 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. These matches conclude a five match homestand for TU and will be the final tune ups before the American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships come to town on April 20-23.

The Hurricane are coming off a split week last week, shutting out North Texas 4-0 before falling 0-4 in a well fought battle against No. 19 UCF. Tulsa is 13-7 on the season, and 10-3 at home.

TU checked in at No. 48 in this week's ITA Team Rankings, and while there were no individual rankings, Lily Hutchings is on a four-match win streak in both singles and doubles, while Laia Conde Monfort has posted three consecutive victories at No. 1 singles.

Denver is 11-3 this season, and 3-2 on the road. The 73rd ranked Pioneers are coming off a 7-0 victory over Kansas City. Tulsa and Denver haven't faced off since 2006, when the Pioneers edged out the Hurricane in a 4-3 win.

Temple is 11-4 this spring, but 2-4 away from its home courts. The Owls come into Tulsa on a five-match win streak, posting wins over Drexel and Villanova last weekend. TU is 3-0 all-time against Temple, including a 6-1 victory last April at the Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa will honor lone senior Shura Poppe on Sunday. Poppe is in her fifth year representing the Golden Hurricane, and is 71-44 in singles play in her career, and 51-43 in doubles play.
