
Multiple Volleyball Players Notch Double-Doubles in Five-Set Win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

Lincoln, Neb. — Four athletes recorded double-doubles to help power the University of Tulsa volleyball team to a 3-2 win (25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-27, 17-15) over the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Saturday to wrap up the Husker Invitational in Lincoln.
The Golden Hurricane was led by Kayley Cassaday, who had 27 kills and 10 digs. In her 66 total attacks, she did not commit a single error.
Aysu Dalogullari followed up with 19 kills and 16 digs.
Avery Kalsu had a big game against the Islanders, putting up 26 assists and 20 digs. Behind her was Marta Pecalli, who recorded 13 assists and 19 digs.
Rachel Brown added 11 kills and Brayden Hipp added 22 assists to help the offense. On the defensive end, Arianna Mongare led Tulsa with five blocks.
The out-of-conference victory gives the Hurricane its first win of the season.
Cassaday was voted to the All-Tournament Team after recording 51 total kills, 4.25 kills per set and a .251 hitting percentage over the weekend's three matches.
"I was happy with the fight we showed today against a really good Corpus Christi team," said Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Wills. "They challenged us and pushed us in ways we weren't expecting. They're going to win a lot of games this year, but the match belonged to us today."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hurricane earned a set-one victory 25-22 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. Tulsa registered a .333 attack percentage with 19 kills in the set victory. The Golden Hurricane opened up a 19-14 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.
SET 2 | Tulsa dropped set two 25-21 to even the match 1-1. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was knotted up 10 times before the Islanders took over in the second half of the set.
SET 3 | Tulsa put the second-set loss behind and took a 2-1 match lead with a win in set three. The Hurricane scored first and never looked back to secure a 25-19 victory. Tulsa reached an eight-point lead at 15-7 before closing out the set, collecting 18 kills along the way.
SET 4 | Tulsa could not finish off a four-set win as the Islanders squeaked by with a 27-25 victory. The Hurricane lost the set in spite of a solid showing on the attacking side. Tulsa registered a .400 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set loss.
SET 5 | Tulsa and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi went back and forth all game, trading set wins until the Hurricane took set five 17-15 and the match. Tulsa registered a .367 attack percentage with 12 kills in the set win. The Islanders had leads of 5-1 and 8-4 behind the Hurricane stormed back and took control for good at 16-15 and rode that advantage to victory.
