
Tulsa Earns 3-0 Sweep Over South Alabama

Nacogdoches, Texas — The University of Tulsa volleyball team took care of business in three sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) to defeat the South Alabama Jaguars Friday at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational.
The non-conference victory boosted the Golden Hurricane's overall record to 2-2 on the season.
Kayley Cassaday finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Golden Hurricane offense. The setter tandem Brayden Hipp and Avery Kalsu combined for 29 assists.
Defensively, Tulsa had two players reach double figures in digs as Marta Pecalli had 16 and Lauren Eitler had 13. Rachel Brown and Bailey Rowe each put up 4 blocks to help seal the win.
The Hurricane will continue tournament play today at 5:00 p.m. when it faces the McNeese State Cowgirls.

» Arianna Mongare had a team-high two aces in the win.
» Tulsa never trailed on the way to winning the first set 25-20. The Hurricane enjoyed a seven-point run to start the set up 14-5.

SET 1 | The Hurricane won the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-20. Tulsa led by nine points at 14-5 before finishing off the set. Tulsa got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five South Alabama attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 13 South Alabama attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 2 | Tulsa built on a set-one win by securing a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Hurricane grabbed the set propelled by a solid showing on the attacking side. Tulsa registered a .313 attack percentage with 15 kills. The Hurricane opened a 22-16 lead in the set and coasted to victory from there. The offense also got a boost from four service aces.
SET 3 | Tulsa closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning the third set. The Hurricane took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that highlighted three lead changes before Tulsa took over in the second half of the stanza. They then carried that lead to a 25-23 set win.
