NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Tulsa women's tennis team fell 4-2 to the Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-0) Saturday during the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Norman, Okla.

The loss drops the Golden Hurricane to 3-2 on the season.

The doubles point came down to the No. 2 position after Texas Tech won the No. 3 position, followed by a win at No. 1 by Tulsa. Laia Conde Monfort and Ana Naranjo Martinez could not close out, losing 6-4 at the No. 2 spot to give the Red Raiders the doubles point.

In singles play, Lily Hutchings and Amy Leather scored for Tulsa at the No. 3 and No. 6 positions, respectively. The dual was clinched for Texas Tech when the Red Raiders' Avelina Sayfetdinova escaped with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 2 Singles over Tulsa's Maria Berlanga Bandera.

Amy Leather continues her hot streak in singles play, moving to six consecutive wins, including three in a row at the No. 6 position.

The Tulsa women will close out the weekend tomorrow, Jan. 29, to face Minnesota (0-1) in a consolation dual at 10 a.m.
