TULSA, Okla — The University of Tulsa is hosting the ITA Men's All-American Championships for the 18th consecutive year at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the Tulsa campus. Main Draw Singles and Doubles action began Wednesday morning.
Starting on Saturday, Sept. 30, over 500 of the nation's top collegiate tennis players from up to 100 schools will come together in Tulsa to play for the first major national championship of the fall season.
Â
The nine-day tournament will feature a Pre-Qualifying Singles Draw, along with a Qualifying Draw and Main Draw for both singles and doubles play. Many of the top-ranked players in the ITA National Preseason Rankings will compete in the main draws of the tournament. In addition to vying for All-American National Titles, competing players are looking to secure berths into the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships, which will take place from November 1-5, at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California.
Kicking off his 33rd year at the helm, Director of Tennis and Men's Tennis Head Coach Vince Westbrook will have seven athletes from his squad competing in the event. Senior transfer from Texas A&M Pierce Rollins and true freshman Victor Tosetto (Porto Alegre, Brazil) will star in the Main Singles Draw of the tournament. Playing in the Qualifying Singles Draw are returning seniors Callum Gale and Volodymyr Zakharov, who are joined by sophomore Timothy Carlsson Seger and true freshman Alex Okonkwo (Maidenhead, England). Redshirt freshman Gus Tettamble will compete in the Pre-Qualifying Singles Draw.
Â
The Golden Hurricane will have three doubles teams hit the courts. Gale and Okonkwo will pair up in the Main Doubles Draw. The Qualifying Doubles Draw will feature the duo of Rollins and Seger and the pair of Tettamble and Tosetto.
The Pre-Qualifying Rounds will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 1, while the Qualifying Rounds run from Oct. 2-3. The Main Draws will span from Oct. 4-8.
