LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ––
Tulsa's perfect start to the season came to an end with an 84-82 overtime loss to Little Rock in the Jack Stephens Center on Saturday evening.

The Golden Hurricane drops to 4-1 on the season and falls in its road opener. Little Rock picks up its second win of the season to improve to 2-4 overall.

Five Tulsa players finished in double figures, with Tyshawn Archie leading the way with 17 points. The freshman was 5-for-8 from the floor and connected on six free throws. Cobe Williams added 16 points, Carlous Williams scored 11 and Matt Reed and Isaiah Barnes each had 10. Carlous Williams and Reed had a team-high eight rebounds in the contest.

Jamir Chaplin had a monster game for the Trojans, scoring 27 to lead all scorers and pulling down 15 rebounds for a double-double. He was 11-for-14 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line.

Little Rock shot 47 percent as a team, while Tulsa hit on 43 percent of its shots. Neither team did particularly well from deep, as Tulsa shot 4-for-23 (17 percent) and Little Rock was 6-for-21 (29 percent).

HOW IT HAPPENED
IN THE FIRST HALF . . .
Little Rock maintained the lead for the majority of the opening half, thought Tulsa never let the game get away. The Trojans held a game-high lead of seven four times in the first 20 minutes, but Tulsa battled back each time.

The hosts took an early 7-2 lead three minutes in. Tulsa tied the game at eight after a Reed layup, but a quick six points put Little Rock up 14-8 at the 14:50 mark. A jumper with 11:08 to play in the half gave the Trojans their first seven-point lead, 23-16.

The final time the lead was seven was 32-25 with 6:21 remaining. After five straight points from Tulsa to cut the lead to two, the teams traded buckets, with the lead never getting under two or eclipsing four until a steal and dunk from Archie tied the game at 38 with 2:27 on the clock.

The final four points of the half were all earned at the charity stripe with Little Rock going 3-of-4 and Tulsa 1-of-2 in the final two minutes and change.

Tulsa shot 41 percent from the floor in the opening half while Little Rock was a blistering 57.1 percent on field goals. Both teams connected on two 3-pointers. Archie finished the opening half with 12 points to lead the way for Tulsa.

IN THE SECOND HALF . . .
The Hurricane opened the half on a 7-0 run to go up 46-41. A Garcia jumper knotted the score at 41 and then PJ Haggerty got to the rim for a layup to give Tulsa its first lead, 43-41. After an Archie and-one, the run was stopped by a layup from the Trojans.

The lay-in kicked off a quick 9-0 run from the hosts to retake the lead 50-46 with 16:29 to play. From there, neither team got a lead above four. There were 11 ties and 10 lead changes in the second half.

The Trojans held a 74-70 lead with 1:48 left after a pair of free throws. PJ Haggerty got to the hoop for a layup to cut the lead in half, and then connected on a jumper on the next possession to tie the game with just over a minute to play.

After another defensive stop, Haggerty was fouled going to the hoop with just nine seconds remaining. Haggerty was unable to convert either and Bradley Douglas knocked down a shot with 1.9 seconds remaining to put Little Rock up 76-74.

A long inbounds pass was tipped out and Tulsa had possession under the basket with 1.5 seconds left. Carlous Willliams received a pass at the just inside the arc on the left side near Tulsa's bench. He lifted up and drained the jumper to send the game to overtime tied at 76.

The Hurricane shot 46.9 percent from the floor in the second half, while the Trojans hit on 40.5 percent of its shots. Both teams finished 2-of-11 (18 percent) on 3-pointers in the second frame. Barnes had eight to lead Tulsa.

IN OVERTIME . . .
Carlous Williams started the overtime period like he ended regulation, getting an offensive rebound off his own miss and putting it back to give Tulsa a 78-76 lead. Cobe Williams put Tulsa up four, and then a steal gave Tulsa a chance to put pressure on the hosts.

However, turnovers were an Achilles heel for Tulsa for the entire game and it came back to hurt the Hurricane in overtime. The Hurricane turned it over on the next two possessions, with a Little Rock 3-pointer moving the score to 80-79 with 2:58 left sandwiched between the turnovers.

A pair of free throws gave the Trojans the lead back with 1:38 to play, and a 3-pointer off another Tulsa turnover gave Little Rock an 84-80 advantage with just 22 seconds left on the clock. After a tough layup from Cobe Williams got Tulsa within two, the Hurricane were forced to foul with seven seconds remaining.

Little Rock missed the one-and-one and Jared Garcia came down with the rebound. He kicked it ahead to Cobe, who was able to get down the court, but his off-balance shot didn't go and Little Rock secured the rebound for the 84-82 win.
