IRVING, Texas — The University of Tulsa women's tennis team (13-10) will be the No. 4 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship, announced by the league Monday night. The 75th-ranked Golden Hurricane will face fifth-seeded Wichita State (12-9) in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 20, at 8 a.m.

The tournament will be held at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus in Orlando, Fla., with opening round play beginning Wednesday, April 19, and the championship match starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships.

Tulsa enters the American Women's Tennis Championship in search of its fourth tournament title. The Hurricane previously won the championship in 2015, 2016 and 2018. TU is 16-4 all-time in the American Championship and has the best winning percentage in the tournament of any team (.800).

Thursday marks a rematch between Tulsa and Wichita State. Previously, on Feb. 18, the Hurricane held off the Shockers for a 4-3 win at home, knotting up the overall series at 22 wins apiece.
