Tulsa Opens Spring Rowing Season Saturday in Oklahoma City

TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa rowing team kicks off the 2024 spring campaign on Saturday against Central Oklahoma and Creighton as the teams will race on the Oklahoma River at the OU Exchange Boathouse facility in Oklahoma City.

Tulsa is familiar with both opponents, having faced Creighton and UCO in past seasons. UCO is coming off a season in which the Bronchos placed second at the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships.

"Our team is looking forward to getting out and racing this weekend after spending months of preparation leading to this moment. While it's our first chance to test ourselves as a team, we are looking at this as our first opportunity to find out where we are at and hope to come home with some confidence and a few things to work on moving forward," said Tulsa Head Coach Brandon Campbell.

Tulsa boats will compete in Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+. The Hurricane will also have a 3^rd Varsity 4+ boat participate in the Second Varsity 4+ race.

"We have a special group of seniors leading our team into this season," added Campbell. "They have many years of experience that they have been sharing with our younger athletes. It's been a rewarding experience to work with this group so far this year and I look forward to seeing their hard work and dedication pay off."

Racing will get underway at 9 a.m. with the Varsity 8+ contest. The 2V8+ will follow at 9:15 a.m., the Varsity 4+ is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., and the 2V4+ concludes the day at 9:45 a.m.

Tulsa will be in action on March 23 as the Hurricane will host Creighton at 9:00 a.m. on the Verdigras River in Catoosa, Okla.
