DALLAS, Texas — The Tulsa women's tennis team's season came to a close Thursday as the 10-seed Golden Hurricane fell 4-0 to No. 7 Wichita State in second-round action of the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship in Dallas. The Tulsa women ended the 2024 campaign with an 11-12 record, while the 13-9 Shockers advanced to the Quarterfinal round.

Both teams had a shot to grab the doubles point as Wichita State pulled away 6-3 in the No. 3 position before fifth-year senior Oleksandra Nahurska and junior Ana Naranjo Martinez provided a 6-3 winner in the second position. Junior duo Maria Berlanga Bandera and Lily Hutchings battled to a tiebreak set at six games all but fell 7-4, giving the Shockers the 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Tulsa was unable to take away the momentum from the Shockers as Wichita State players claimed position Nos. 1, 3 and 6 in straight-sets to seal away the dual match, which was clinched in the No. 1 position by Xin Ton Wang. Three singles matches were left unfinished, including freshman Erin McKenzie's contest in the fifth spot that reached a third set.
