Tulsa Rowers Head West for the Lake Natoma Invitational

GOLD RIVER, Calif. –– After spending last weekend at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane rowing team travels to the west coast this weekend for the Lake Natoma Invitational.
The event takes place at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif., this Saturday, April 6.
"We wanted to race here because it's a great experience for the athletes to compete against some really strong teams for conferences that we otherwise wouldn't typically race, with the likes of the West Coast Conference and PAC 12 represented as well as our conference rival and host Sacramento State." said Tulsa Head Coach Brandon Campbell.
The field includes Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Miami, UCLA, Tulsa and host Sacramento State.
In the morning, the 1st varsity eight, 2nd varsity eight, 1st varsity four and 2nd varsity four will compete against Gonzaga and UCLA. In the afternoon, Tulsa will have boats in each of those same categories racing against Loyola Marymount and Sacramento State.
At last week's Sunshine State Invitational, Tulsa's 1st varsity eight boat posted a third-place time in the grand final while the 2nd varsity eight boat placed first in the petite final.
"Coming off our 1V achieving a podium place at the Sunshine State Invitational and being awarded The American's Boat of the Week, it's an excellent opportunity to take another step forward as a team and find more speed as we start to close in our conference championship in just over a month," added Campbell.

Tulsa will be back in action, April 26-27, at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Durham, N.C., before racing at the American Athletic Conference Championship, slated for May 12, in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
