Tulsa Sweeps Central Arkansas in 7-0 Fashion

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa women's tennis team has started 5-0 for the third time in the last four seasons after sweeping Central Arkansas 7-0 Sunday morning on the indoor courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Clinching the doubles points for the Golden Hurricane was the nation's 26th-highest ranked pair in seniors Maria Berlanga Bandera and Lily Hutchings, who defeated their Bear counterpart in a 6-2 decision to move to 11-1 on the year with wins in five straight matches to start the spring.
All TU singles players cruised to straight-set victories with Hutchings, sophomore Erin McKenzie and sophomore Saniya Singh grabbing 6-1, 6-0 wins in the second, fourth and sixth positions, respectively, dropping only one game apiece. McKenzie clinched the team victory in the 4-spot and Berlanga capped the 7-0 sweep for Tulsa with a 6-2, 6-3 victory atop the lineup.
The women's team will return to action in one week to host Stephen F. Austin (0-0) on Sunday, Jan. 26.
