
Big Second Half Leads Tulsa to Blowout Win Over San Jose State

PALM DESERT, Calif. — A huge second half, powered by an 18-0 run, led Tulsa to a dominant 81-51 victory over San Jose State in the first game of the Acrisure Holiday Invitational in Acrisure Arena. The Golden Hurricane outscored the Spartans 38-18 in the second half, holding them to 7-of-28 (.250 percent) from the field.
Ade Popoola scored 14 points, making 5-of-9 field goals and sinking four 3-pointers. Tylen Riley facilitated the offense with seven assists while also adding seven points. David Green led with 16 points, converting 5-of-9 field goals, including three 3-pointers, and recorded two steals. Miles Barnstable matched Popoola's scoring, tallying 14 points with 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Tyler Behrend finished in double figures with a career-high 10 points.
As a team the Golden Hurricane were 13-of-25 (.520 percent) from three and 30-of-56 (.536 percent) from the field. Tulsa had 20 assists to just nine turnovers while forcing 12.
Tulsa (5-1) and San Jose State (2-4) opened the game with a fast-paced first half, where the Golden Hurricane gained a 43-33 lead at the break. Popoola played a significant role, hitting multiple 3-pointers, including a fast-break three at the 7:54 mark to extend the lead. Riley contributed early with a layup and an assist, while Green added strength from beyond the arc, contributing two three-pointers and assisting on another. The Spartans' scoring was highlighted by Ben Roseborough and Sadraque NgaNga, who each connected from deep, but the team struggled to keep pace with Tulsa's shooting efficiency.
