ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A hot start in the first half, including a 16-0 offensive run, led the Tulsa men's basketball team to a decisive 82-65 win over Rhode Island in the Veterans Classic in Alumni Hall on the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Golden Hurricane's sharp three-point shooting, going 11-for-22 from beyond the arc, was pivotal in building a lead that proved insurmountable. The team also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 15 points off the Rams' 16 turnovers. Despite Rhode Island's effort to close the gap, Tulsa maintained control throughout the second half, securing the victory. With this win, Tulsa improved to 4-0 all-time against Rhode Island.

Romad Dean led the team with 13 points, converting 5-of-6 field goals, including three 3-pointers. David Green scored 14 points and added five rebounds. Tylen Riley finished with 13 points and dished out three assists. Ade Popoola contributed defensively with five steals and recorded four rebounds. Miles Barnstable added 13 points while Jalen Lawal had 11 points off the bench, giving the Golden Hurricane five double figure scorers.

Tulsa started strong with Green scoring a layup to open the half. The team built momentum with contributions from multiple players, including a 3-pointer by Lawal at 13:27 that put them ahead 17–16. They maintained control through effective ball movement, recording nine assists and capitalizing in the paint with 18 points.

Midway through the half, Tulsa extended their lead through a balanced attack, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Popoola at 8:15, increasing the advantage to 27–16. The team closed the half effectively, with Dean adding a layup at the 53-second mark. Tulsa led 36–29 at the end of the first half.

Tulsa opened the second half by capitalizing on defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and securing a 7-point run early on. Green's offensive rebounding led to critical second-chance points, while Lawal added to the score with a successful jumper and free throw, extending their advantage.

Dean's back-to-back 3-pointers, assisted by teammates, pushed Tulsa's lead to 17 points at one point. They maintained momentum with effective ball distribution, resulting in six 3-pointers throughout the half. The team displayed strong defensive efforts, holding the Rams to limited scoring opportunities.

Closing the half with a 46–36 scoring edge, Tulsa's balanced attack on offense and strategic defensive stops kept them ahead. The game concluded with Tulsa maintaining a solid lead, 82–65.
