Tulsa Heads to Charlotte for The American Outdoor Track and Field Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's and women's track and field student-athletes are set to compete in the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Charlotte 49ers' Irwin Belk Track and Field Center in Charlotte, N.C. The meet will start on Thursday, May 15, and run through Saturday, May 17, with each day of the event streaming live on ESPN+.
The Golden Hurricane will see 31 student-athletes compete in up to 34 events. Tulsa looks to upend defending outdoor champions South Florida (men) and Charlotte (women).
On the men's side, redshirt senior Shay McEvoy, the American's leader in the 10,000m and owner of the second-best mark in the 5,000m this season, will take on both events this week. He will be joined by Charlie Krasnoff, Ben Brown and Luke Lambert in Thursday's 10K. These four men will race in Saturday's 5K with Luke Birdseye, Oisin Spillane and Indoor AAC Men's Freshman of the Year Levi Rowan.
Freshmen speedsters Luke Finzen, Tyler Priest and Carson Miller will head up the short-distance races, while runners like Andrew Lutkenhaus, Sean Korsmo, Korban Murphy, Grant Musick, Demarion Dean and Joseph Snyder – owner of two TU indoor track records – will face the middle-distance events like the 800m and 1,500m
On the women's team, the junior pair of Sarah Hosey and Billie Rouse will take on the 800m trials together on Friday. Rouse ranks sixth in the conference in the event, and Hosey sits at ninth.
Alexis Cavin, Jaylin VonWald, Gabbie Washington, Lianne Holtermann and Raniya Laneau will handle the sprint events for the women, while Rylie Hancock (triple jump) and Emma Agost Queral (high jump) will be Tulsa's lone field competitors this weekend.
The American's 3,000m steeplechase leader, Sara Morefield, a true freshman, is slated to take on the event at 6:30 p.m. Central on Friday. She holds the fastest women's mark in the league to date (10:24.31), leading the runner-up by four seconds.
Both men's and women's teams will have 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads.
The action for TU begins at 5:30 p.m. Central on Thursday and runs through 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. Fans can track the live results at FlashResults.com.
