Tulsa Sets Program Single Season Threes Record in Blowout Win Over UTSA

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa's offense was clinical in a 100-74 win over UTSA on Sunday in the Reynolds Center. The team knocked down 12 threes to set the single season program record and now has 292 makes on the season.
Ade Popoola scored a career-high 26 points and contributed five steals, adding a double-double with 10 rebounds, the team's first double-double of the season. David Green led the team with 27 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Tylen Riley added 13 points and recorded six assists. Romad Dean scored 11 points and collected six rebounds off the bench.
The first half opened with UTSA taking an early lead as Brent Moss hit a 3-pointer at the 19:38 mark. Tulsa quickly equalized with a fast-paced approach, highlighted by Popoola's steal and 3-pointer, tying the score at 6. The Golden Hurricane then gained momentum, going on a 10-2 run midway through the half, with Green contributing a dunk and a layup. Popoola continued to dominate, scoring back-to-back 3-pointers to extend Tulsa's lead. By the end of the half, Green capped off the scoring with a 3-pointer, giving the home team a 53-37 advantage.
Tulsa maintained its lead in the second half against UTSA, opening with a strong defensive and offensive performance. Dorian Hayes of the Roadrunners hit a three-pointer at 19:37, contributing to an early scoring run, but Tulsa responded effectively. Popoola's three-pointer at 6:31 extended Tulsa's lead to 85-65, showcasing its shooting proficiency. Green and Dean further solidified Tulsa's control, with Green's three-pointer at 3:03 pushing the score to 95-67. Leon Sifferlin capped the scoring for the Golden Hurricane with a three-pointer at 21 seconds left, finalizing the score at 100-74.
The Golden Hurricane hit the road next week as they take on Tulane on Wednesday.
