FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tulsa women's tennis dropped a 4–1 decision to Arkansas (5-0) on Thursday afternoon at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
Arkansas secured the opening doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The 27th-ranked pairing of Carolina Gomez Alonso and Anet Koskel took a 6-1 victory over Isabella Basson and Uta Asakura at the top spot, while Jimena Gomez Alonso and Brooke Schafer followed with a 6-4 win against Maria Santos and Carolina Alonso. The match on court three was left unfinished with Tulsa trailing 5-4.
Tulsa earned its lone point of the day in singles on court three, where Carolina Alonso picked up a win by retirement over Katarina Pavlechova to even the dual match at 1-1. Alonso's victory was the first singles match to finish.
Arkansas responded with straight-set wins on courts four, five, and six to clinch the match. Anet Koskel defeated Alice Baba 6-0, 6-3 on court four, before Alexandra Panagiotidou followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tayla Wilmot at No. 5. Jimena Gomez Alonso sealed the dual with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Coral Valle on court six.
Matches on the top two singles courts were left unfinished at the time of clinch. Isabella Basson and Carolina Gomez Alonso split sets at No. 1, while Maria Santos and Brooke Schafer were in the early stages of a third set on court two.
Tulsa moves to 4-3 on the season following the road matchup.
Tulsa will remain in Fayetteville to take on Kansas State in a neutral-site matchup Saturday at 3 p.m.
