RALEIGH, N.C. — The Tulsa rowing team gained valuable experience on the water this weekend after racing against four of the nation's top 25 teams and marathoning through three rounds of racing in a two-day span at the Lake Wheeler Invitational.

Tulsa's four boats also went up against other Big 12 teams, earning wins over West Virginia and Old Dominion in the second and third rounds.

Tulsa's best placements came from its 1v8+ boat, which was coxed by senior Bri Gfroerer. She led her squad to fourth-place finishes in the first two rounds and then a podium finish for third in the final round on Saturday. TU's top boat's best official time was 6:34.93 in Friday's second round, coming in behind ranked boats from Virginia, Miami and Oklahoma.

The Golden Hurricane will head to Bloomington, Ind., for Indiana's Dale England Cup on Saturday, May 2, to wrap up the regular season. The Big 12 Championship is set for May 17 in Sarasota, Fla.
