Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Falls 1-0 in Overtime to Memphis

The Tulsa men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Memphis in overtime on Saturday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane fell to 4-8-2 on the season and 1-4 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers moved to 6-4-4 overall and 2-2-1 in the league.

"I thought we did a good job after the first 15-to-20 minutes," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We made a couple of adjustments and the guys did a good job with their pressure. As the first half wore on we got more control of the game and in the first 35 minutes or so of the second half we were in their end and had them pinned back, but we couldn't quite get good enough opportunities. The final ball, the final pass, the final shot was missing for us a little bit, and we have to do better in that aspect."

The two teams battled for just over 91 minutes when Chris Mikus had a shot on goal that was saved by Bryson Reed. Gurman Sangha was able to get a goal on a rebound attempt to finish the game for the Tigers.

Alex Harris came in off the bench and had a team-best two shots, while five others had one attempt for Tulsa. Reed logged all 91:09 in goal and picked up five saves.

Memphis had a 15-7 lead in shots, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, while Tulsa had a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, October 23 against crosstown rival Oral Roberts. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at ONEOK Field in downtown Tulsa.
