TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa volleyball senior Emily Thorson has earned her second American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll bid, the conference announced on Monday.

Her second honor comes after a remarkable offensive performance on the road this past weekend, where Tulsa traveled to take on UCF and USF in Florida. Thorson racked up 32 kills on the weekend for a 4.00 kills per set mark.

In Sunday's match against USF, the senior posted a career-high six service aces en route to leading Tulsa to a 3-1 win over USF with 13 team aces. The 13 aces marks the most in a match for the Golden Hurricane since a sweep over Charleston Southern University on Sept. 1, 2007, in which TU posted 14 aces.

Currently, Thorson sits at fourth in the conference in kills per set, averaging a lofty 3.49 so far this season.

As a team, Tulsa sits at No. 4 in the American, tallying a 12-5, 4-1 record at this point in 2018. The team is coming off its 1-1 trip to Florida, in which it fell to UCF but rebounded and took down a solid USF squad on its home court, 3-1.

Up next, the Golden Hurricane returns home to Tulsa to square off with Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 12 and ECU on Sunday, Oct. 14. TU is 7-0 when playing inside the Donald W. Reynolds Center this season.
