THE GAME
• This is the 48th meeting between Tulsa and Memphis and the 12th as American Athletic Conference members.
• Memphis is 14-3 on the season ... the Tigers come into Wednesday's match-up off of a 60-49 win against UCF ... Memphis has key wins over Ole Miss, Tennessee and Cincinnati.
• This will be the only meeting between Tulsa and Memphis this season
• Memphis enters the game 3-1 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa is 4-1 in conference play.
THE SERIES
• The Tigers hold the series advantage at 29-18 ... the Hurricane is 9-10 at home against Memphis, 8-16 on the road and 1-3 in neutral site games.
• Tulsa has won 5 of the 11 conference meetings against the Tigers including splitting last season's meetings.
• Tulsa's last meeting against Memphis came on March 9, 2019 as the Hurricane lost 66-63 in Memphis .
• The last meeting in the Reynolds Center between the two teams came on Jan. 30, 2019 as the Hurricane won, 95-79.
• The first game between the two teams came in the 1964-65 season as Tulsa defeated then Memphis State at home with a final of 80-63 under coach Joe Swank.
LAST MEETING AGAINST MEMPHIS
• The Hurricane took on the Tigers in a conference road game on March 9, 2019, in the FedEx Forum, as Tulsa lost by a score of 66-63.
• Curran Scott led Tulsa in scoring with 13 points ... Lawson Korita finished with 12, and Martins Igbanu neared a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
• Tulsa used a 9-0 run in the second half to capture a 55-54 lead ... however, Sterling Taplin's basket at 4:39 was the last Hurricane field goal the rest of the way.
• Taplin scored nine points and added five assists ... he became just the fourth Hurricane to score 1,000 career point and have 400 assists.
• The Tigers were led by senior Jeremiah Martin who scored 20 points ... freshman Tyler Harris came off the bench to score 16 points ... Harris came up with a crucial steal and basket to seal the game.
TULSA'S LAST WIN AGAINST MEMPHIS
• The Hurricane captured a 95-79 victory over the Tigers at the Reynolds Center on Jan. 30, 2019.
• DaQuan Jeffries scored a career-high 25 points going 8-12 (67%) from the field and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Tulsa ... Curran Scott added in a season-high 20 points for the Hurricane.
• Three other Tulsa players scored in double-figures led by Sterling Taplin with 14 ... Jeriah Horne put in 13 points while Martins Igbanu rounded out the group with 10.
• The Hurricane set season-highs for points (95), field goals (30), assists (24) and field goal percentage (.545).
• Memphis was led by Tyler Harris off the bench with 18 and Kyvon Davenport who had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
• The Tulsa victory ended a three-game losing streak in the American Athletic Conference.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• Memphis was picked to finish first in The American Athletic Conference ... the Tigers finished last season with a record of 22-14, 11-7 in conference play.
• Memphis is coached by second-year head coach Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway who played for the Tigers (91-93) and the NBA (93-07).
• The Tigers are 3-1 in conference play most recently defeating Cincinnati at home, 60-49 on Thursday, Jan 16.
• Memphis is 3-1 on the road this year with their only loss coming at Wichita State on Jan. 9 with a final of 76-67.
