Tulsa Tennis Takes Down #22 Memphis

TULSA, Okla. –– The 50^th- ranked Tulsa men's tennis team took down its second top-25 opponent of the year with a 4-3 decision Sunday afternoon over the No. 22-ranked Memphis Tigers at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa improved to 7-5 on the season with four of those losses coming against top-25 teams, while the Tigers improved to 5-3 on the year.

Memphis took a 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches, but Tulsa took the first two singles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Ezequiel Santalla claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 position to even that match score at 1-1 and then at the No. 1 spot Kody Pearson won the first set 6-3 and closed out a tough second set in the tiebreaker, 8-6, to win 7-6.

Playing without Stefan Hampe in his normal No. 4 spot, Cenoz moved up to the fourth position and Boriss Kamdem and Daniel Siddall took up the No. 5 and 6 slots.

Cenoz fell in straight sets at the No. 4 spot as Memphis evened the score at 2-2. Thelwall- Jones and Connor Di Marco scored Tulsa's next two victories. Siddall went three sets, winning the first 6-3, falling in the second 6-2, and coming back for a 6-4 win to put the Hurricane ahead 3-2.

After dropping the first set 6-2, DiMarco clinched the win for the Hurricane at No. 2 by securing 6-4 wins in the final two sets.

Tulsa returns to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Friday to face UTSA in a 5 p.m. match
