
No. 49 Tulsa Holds Off Temple for 10th Home Win

TULSA, Okla. ― On a chilly Easter evening at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, the 49th ranked Tulsa men's tennis team held off Temple 4-2 to extend its win streak to three and collect the 10th win of the year at the Case Tennis Center. TU improves to 14-9 this spring, with tomorrow night's home contest against No. 27 SMU the regular season finale.
The Hurricane won the doubles point, with wins from familiar faces in new spots. Kody Pearson, who has played No. 1 doubles all year, paired up with Callum Gale and won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, while Adham Gaber/Ezequiel Santalla secured the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
After Stefan Hampe won by default and Gaber won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, Tulsa took a 3-0 lead. The Owls would battle back, posting wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles to cut into the lead.
Pearson, who dropped his first set 2-6, chipped away and came back to win in three sets at No. 1 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, to clinch the victory for Tulsa. The 87th ranked Pearson is now 13-4 from the first slot in singles.
Tulsa will look to continue its win streak tomorrow night when the Hurricane host No. 27 SMU at 5 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, before the conference tournament begins Thursday.
