Tulsa Women’s Tennis Hosts Tulsa Invitational To Open Fall Season

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa women's tennis team hosts the Tulsa Invitational this Friday, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center to begin the fall slate.

The Tulsa Invitational is an individuals-only event featuring doubles and singles play during each day of the tournament. Tulsa players start at 2 p.m. on Friday, 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

After finishing with a 17-8 record in the spring season, Tulsa is set to compete in up to five events this fall. After the Tulsa Invitational, members of the Hurricane will play in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C, which spans from Oct. 1 through Oct. 9.

Other Intercollegiate Tennis Association-sanctioned events in the fall include the Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Okla. (Oct. 13-17) and the National Fall Championships in San Diego (Nov. 2-6).

Tulsa will host the Hurricane Invite from Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 to wrap up the fall schedule.

The Hurricane has five returning athletes from last year, including senior Laia Conde Monfort, who was named the 2022 American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year.

Newcomers on the team include freshman Amy Leather of Bath, England, junior transfer Oleksandra Nahurska (Oral Roberts) of Lugansk, Ukraine and sophomore transfer Myroslava Zelenchuk (Southeast Missouri State) of Lviv, Ukraine.
