TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa men's basketball team will continue its homestand to open the season as the Golden Hurricane hosts Incarnate Word on Saturday afternoon in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Tipoff for the second game of the season is set for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+. Chad McKee and Pooh Williamson will bring fans the action. Tulsa fans can also catch the game on Big Country 99.5 FM or the Varsity Network app. Don King and JR Rollo have the call tomorrow as Bruce Howard is on the road with football.

Saturday is just the second meeting between the Golden Hurricane and the Cardinals. Tulsa won the only other matchup 76-47 on Dec. 22, 2014. Shaq Harrison led all scorers with 24 points and was one of three Hurricane to finish in double figures. Tulsa held a commanding 41-16 lead at halftime and didn't look back.

Tulsa had about as good as a start as fans could hope for in head coach Eric Konkol's second season in charge, taking down Central Arkansas 70-53 in the season opener. Graduate transfer Cobe Williams led all Tulsa scorers with 13 points and four assists.

In all but three minutes of the game, Tulsa's lineup had newcomers in all five positions. PJ Haggerty stuffed the box score with 12 points, six rebounds, a team-high five assists and four steals. Isaiah Barnes and true freshman Tyshawn Archie each scored 11. Jared Garcia's 10 rebounds led the team, and true freshmen Jarred Hall and Matt Reed pulled down seven and six rebounds, respectively.

UIW fell in its season opener 88-56 at Texas. The Cardinals fell behind early and couldn't catch up, trailing 48-17 at the half. Junior transfer guard Sky Wicks recorded a double-double, leading all scorers with 26 points and pulling down 11 boards. Key returner Devante Davis added nine points. Davis averaged 8.3 points a season ago.

Former Tulsa student-athlete Shane Heirman is in his first season as the head coach at Incarnate Word. Heirman was a walk-on at Tulsa from 2008-11 and appeared in 50 games for the Golden Hurricane over three seasons, including a pair of starts as a senior. He returned to the Reynolds Center last season as an associate head coach at Central Michigan, but Saturday will be his first time as a Division I head coach.

After Saturday's game with UIW, Tulsa will play its third consecutive home game to open the season with a game against Jackson State on Thursday, Nov. 16. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.
