TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa men's basketball welcomes the Tulane Green Wave to the Donald W. Reynolds Center for an American Athletic Conference contest Sunday afternoon.

This is the lone meeting between the two schools in the regular season. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. and will air on ESPN+ with Chad McKee, Pooh Williamson and sideline reporter Michelle Montaine bringing fans the action. Fans can also catch the game on Big Country 99.5 FM and the Varsity Network app. Bruce Howard and JR Rollo have the call.

The Hurricane is looking to correct a three-game skid after falling to 9-6, 0-3 in The American with a loss at Charlotte on Wednesday evening. Trailing by as many as 26 in the second half, Tulsa made a frantic comeback to get the lead under 10. However, the 49ers secured the win by going 11-of 12 at the charity stripe.

Tulane (10-5, 1-2 The American) enters the Reynolds Center on a two-game losing streak of its own. The Green Wave was victim of a heartbreaking 85-84 loss at home to #24 FAU. Tulane went on a late 10-0 run to take the lead with under 30 seconds to play. However, the Owls drew a foul on their last-second 3-point attempt and hit two of three free throws to steal the win.

Sunday marks the 36th meeting between the two schools, and Tulsa holds a 25-10 advantage in the all-time series. At home, TU is 15-2 against the Green Wave and 13-2 in the Reynolds Center. Tulane has won four of the past five matchups, but Tulsa has taken 15 of the last 20 in the series. The team's last met on Jan. 21, 2023, in Tulsa, with the Hurricane winning the matchup 81-79 in overtime. It was Tulsa's lone conference win of the season.

Despite the results, graduate guard Cobe Williams and freshman guard PJ Haggerty had good weeks in North Carolina. Haggerty tied his season-high with 28 points against Charlotte, while Williams scored 18 in both contests. Haggerty is now boasting a team-best 18.5 scoring average, while Williams increased his to 12.7 points per game.

The Golden Hurricane seem a much different team at home than on the road. This season, Tulsa is 9-1 in the Reynolds Center, with the lone loss coming in the final seconds to the 15th-ranked Memphis Tigers. The Hurricane averages 79.2 points per game at home to 71.3 on the road, a 7.9-point difference. The difference is felt even more on the other end of the court, where TU holds its opponents to 63.6 points in Reynolds, and opponents average 77.3 points when Tulsa is on the road. Cobe Williams is an outlier for Tulsa, scoring in bigger numbers in road games. He averages 11.3 points at home, while pushing his scoring average to 16.5 in road contests. While not as significant a jump, Matt Reed is the other Tulsa player with a noticeable difference, increasing from 4.6 points per game at home to 7.3 on the road.

Tulane is a well-oiled machine on offense. The Green Wave lead the conference in scoring offense (86.73 points), field goal percentage (50.7) and free throws made (20.6) and attempted (28.1) per game. Five players score in double figures, led by Kevin Cross, who puts up 16.5 points per contest, as well as a team-leading 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists. Jaylen Forbes (15.2), Kolby King (14.5), Sion James (14.3) and Collin Holloway (12.9) are the other four to hold double-digit scoring averages.

After Sunday's game, Tulsa will face another new conference opponent when UTSA comes to town for a Wednesday evening matchup. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.
