TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa men's basketball team will finish its nonconference slate on Saturday against Southwestern Christian in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. (CT) and will air on ESPN+ with Chad McKee and Pooh Williamson on the call. Fans can also catch the contest on Big Country 99.5 FM and the Varsity Network app. Bruce Howard will bring fans the action alongside analyst JR Rollo.

Tulsa (5-7) won the only prior meeting with the Eagles (4-8, 2-7 Sooner Athletic Conference) 102-45 on Dec. 23, 2020. Due to the Covid Pandemic, the lone meeting between the two schools was played with no crowd.

The Hurricane snapped a four-game losing streak last week with a dominating 93-48 win over Mississippi Valley State. The 45-point margin of victory was the most for TU since the win over SCU in 2020 (+57). Tulsa won the battle of the boards 52-23 (+29), the largest discrepancy for TU since outrebounding Prairie View A&M 56-21 (+35) on Dec. 12, 2004, in a game Tulsa won 97-44.

In his best game this season, sophomore forward Matt Reed led the Hurricane with a career-high 15 points and a season-best nine rebounds. Reed hit 4-of-5 attempts from 3-point range in the win and was named to The American Honor Roll for his performance. Ian Smikle also picked up a weekly award, earning The American Freshman of the Week honors after scoring nine points and recording six boards in the win over the Delta Devils.

Following Saturday's contest, the Golden Hurricane will gear up for the start of the American Athletic Conference play. Tulsa hosts the Rice Owls on New Year's Day in the Reynolds Center. Tipoff for the conference opener is set for 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.
