SAN ANTONIO, Texas  –– The University of Tulsa men's basketball team travels south to face UTSA in a Wednesday night conference battle in the Convocation Center, marking the first time Tulsa will play UTSA on the road.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN+ with Karl Schoening and Devin Brown bringing fans the action. TU fans can also catch the game on Big Country 99.5 FM and the Varsity Network app. Bruce Howard and JR Rollo have the call.

Tulsa (14-13, 5-10 The American) and UTSA (9-19, 3-12 The American) face off for the second time this season. The Hurricane blew out the Roadrunners 107-78 with a 3-point shooting barrage, knocking down 16 from long range. It was the first time the Hurricane had hit the century mark in an American Athletic Conference contest. PJ Haggerty scored 25 to lead Tulsa and lead five Hurricane to score in double figures.

Wednesday is the eighth meeting between the schools, with Tulsa winning each of the seven previous meetings. This is the first time TU will play against UTSA in San Antonio as all the previous games were played in Tulsa in either the Convention Center of the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Tulsa is coming off a massive 69-67 comeback victory against the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday, avenging an earlier season loss in Charlotte. The Hurricane trailed by as many as 14 in the first half and 11 at the break but fought back to take the win in front of the home crowd. Junior Jared Garcia scored 24 to lead TU, shooting 10-of-11 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Garcia's 14 first half points were vital to keeping Tulsa in the game. Tulsa moved to 9-1 this season in games where he scores 10 or more points, and 8-1 when he finishes above 50 percent from the field.

Freshman PJ Haggerty picked up his 12th The American Freshman of the Week award. Haggerty scored 17 in the win over Charlotte, including seven in the final few minutes and the game winning free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining. The Crosby, Texas native dished out seven assists in the win, giving him 99 for the season and setting a new school record for freshman assists. He passes Shea Seals, who had 97 in his 1993-94 freshman campaign.

The results have not gone UTSA's way this season as the Roadrunners bring a 9-19 record into the midweek matchup. Since its loss to Tulsa, the Roadrunners are 2-8, but have still been in some competitive battles. Its first game after TU, UTSA took a nationally ranked FAU squad to overtime before falling. It was the second time UTSA had gone to overtime against a ranked team after taking Memphis to overtime on the road earlier in the conference season. UTSA also had a four-point loss to Rice and a five-point loss to the league leaders South Florida. There were also two other losses by fewer than 10 points.

Jordan Ivy-Curry continues to play fantastic basketball for the Roadrunners, leading the team with a 16.7 scoring average despite coming off the bench in all 18 contests he's featured in this season. Christian Tucker is the lone other Roadrunner to score 10 or more, averaging 11.5 points per contest.

Following Wednesday's game, the Golden Hurricane will head to Philadelphia to play the Temple Owls on Saturday in the final road contest of the regular season. Tipoff is set for noon central and will air on ESPN+.
