
Tulsa Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision to No. 46 USF

TAMPA Fla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team (11-9) fell in its Wednesday afternoon match to No. 46 USF (12-5), 5-2, at the USF Varsity Tennis Complex.
Despite the loss, Tulsa picked up wins from junior Jarod Hing in the No. 4 position, as well as redshirt-freshman Stefan Hampe at the No. 5 spot.
In doubles, USF clinched the 1-0 advantage with identical 6-3 wins at the top and No. 3 positions. Tulsa's duo of Majed Kilani and Kody Pearson were tied at 5-5 when the decisive point was scored.
The Bulls continued their momentum into singles, nabbing three of the six first sets. Pearson was the first to fall, dropping his match to Pierre Luquet, 6-3, 6-1.
USF took a 3-0 advantage with a win at the No. 6 position, 6-4, 6-3 over TU's Boriss Kamdem.
Despite going down 2-0, Tulsa responded with a Hampe victory, scoring a decisive 7-6(4), 6-4 victory to bring the score within two. Despite the momentum, Tulsa fell as a result of the No. 2 slot, as Joshua Goodger dropped his match to Chase Ferguson, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Hing added Tulsa's second and final point of the afternoon in a three-set battle, 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Kilani fell in the last solo match of the day to No. 19 Alberto Barroso-Campos.
The team will recuperate with nine days off before its return to action in New Orleans, set for a March 29 matchup with Tulane.
