Micheal Power’s Top-5 Finish Highlights Tulsa’s Day at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Micheal Power tallied a top-5 finish in the 5,000-meter invite as the Tulsa track and field had seven runners competing today during the opening day of the Stanford Invitational. The Stanford Invitational, which has 71 schools competing, will run through tomorrow evening, but Tulsa completed all its events tonight.
The Hurricane had runners in four different events, with Power highlighting the night with a 5th place finish in the 5,000-meter invite at 13:29.57, the second-fastest in school history. Isaac Akers finished behind him in seventh at 13:32.84, which is the third-fastest in TU history.
Tulsa had three runners in the 10,000-meter run invite, which is 25 laps around the track. Scott Beattie collected a top-10 finish, placing 7th at 28:19.90, giving him with the third-fastest time in school history. Peter Lynch came in 17th at 28:36.32, while Cormac Dalton's time of 28:50.06 time put him in 21st.
In the 5,000-meter run section two, Shay McEvoy's time of 13:46.45 put him in 7th of his heat, while Chloe Hershenow finished the women's 5,000-meter run in 17:00.39, finishing 19th in section three.
Tulsa will turn its attention to the John McDonnell Invitational, hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on April 7th-8th and the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi on April 8th-9th.
