TULSA, Okla. — The excitement of a new season is here as the Tulsa men's basketball team is set to open the regular season against Oklahoma Christian on Monday in the Reynolds Center. It'll be the first ever meeting between the Golden Hurricane and the Division II Eagles.

History: First meeting
 
STORY LINES
• The Golden Hurricane open the 2025-26 season with their first ever meeting with the Oklahoma Christian Eagles. Oklahoma Christian is one of three first-time opponents on the TU schedule along with Manhattan Christian and Denver.
• Tulsa is 2-1 in season openers under head coach Eric Konkol, winning each of the last two.
• This marks the third straight season the Golden Hurricane open the year in the Reynolds Center.
• Tulsa will now have opened 9 of the last 11 seasons in the Reynolds Center and is 6-4 over their last 10 season openers.
• Since the 1999-00 season, the first full season the Golden Hurricane have called the Reynolds Center home, the team is 20-6 in home openers.
• TU has won seven straight home openers, with the last defeat coming against Lamar, 74-67, to open the 2017-18 season.
• The Golden Hurricane have a reloaded roster that returns just two rotation pieces from last season in Ian Smikle and Tyler Behrend. They're joined by 9 transfers and three freshmen to the roster this season.
• Last season, Smikle earned American Conference All-Freshman Team honors after averaging 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.
• Head coach Eric Konkol is closing in on 200 wins as a Division I coach. Konkol, tied for the fourth-longest tenured coach in the American, needs just 13 wins to reach that milestone.
•Tulsa enters its 115th season of Golden Hurricane basketball and the 12th as a member of the American Conference.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
• Oklahoma Christian comes to the Reynolds Center for the first ever meeting between the programs, Monday will count as an exhibition for the Eagles.
• Located in Edmond, Oklahoma, the Eagles compete in the Lone Star Conference at the Division II level.
• The LSC currently has 18 full-time members with 17 that sponsor men's basketball.
• Head coach Kendre Talley enters his 7th season at the helm of his alma mater with a career record of 55-99, including a 9-18 season last year.
• They open their regular season on November 18 at home against Randall, an NCCAA school out of Moore, Oklahoma.
