Christian Baker Finishes First in 3,000-meter Steeplechase at Joe Walker Invitational

Tulsa Tallies Seven Top-5 Finishes on Friday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. and OXFORD, Miss. Christian Baker won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Joe Walker Invitational, one of seven top-five finishes for the Hurricane between the two weekend meets that Tulsa is competing in.

In Fayetteville, Evan Sanni-Thomas and Henry Visser highlighted the day for the Tulsa men, as both Hurricane runners collected second place in their respected events. Sanni-Thomas' time of 21.60 in the 200-meter dash put him in second out of a field of 28, while Visser tallied runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles at 53.33.
 
On the women's side, Cara Johnson ran the 100-meter dash in 12.00, while Anna Mager finished the 400-meter in 56.37, giving her a fourth-place finish. Tulsa's 4x100-meter relay team of C. Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Mager, and Hannah Booe finished in fourth.
 
Joe Walker Invitational
In Oxford, Tulsa competed in the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run. Baker tallied the win in the men's steeplechase, while Katharina Pesendorfer finished 5th in the women's steeplechase, two spots ahead of Layla Roebke. In the men's 5,000-meter, Malte Propp paced TU, finishing in sixth, and was one of five Tulsa runners to compete in the event.
 
The Joe Walker Invitational continues tomorrow.
