Akers, Beattie Set Meet Records, Pesendorfer Takes First in 3,000-Meter to Close AAC Indoor Championships

Hurricane Women Finish 3rd, Men 4th
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tulsa's Isaac Akers and Scott Beattie set meet records, while Katharina Pesendorfer took first in the 3,000-meter run, her third victory of the indoor season, as the Golden Hurricane women finished third and the men finished fourth to wrap up the final day of the 2022 American Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Beattie led the charge in the 3,000-meter run for Tulsa, setting a meet record at 7:59.43 as the Hurricane had runners finish in each of the top-six positions. It was the fifth straight win in the event for Tulsa. In the women's 3,000-meter run, Pesendorfer won her first 3,000-meter race after having victories in the mile and 5,000-meter run earlier this season. Chloe Hershenow added a third-place finish to her weekend, and Tulsa placed four in the top-5 of the women's 3,000-meter, and nine in the top-20.
Akers' time of 4:03.87 set a meet record in the men's mile and claimed his first victory of the season. Shay McEvoy and Christian Baker finished fourth and fifth as well, respectively. Keely Jones finished third in the women's mile at 4:47.16.
Tulsa finished the 2022 AAC Indoor Championships with six first-place finishes.
